GLS 100 – Introduction to Global Studies
Official Course Description: This course introduces the field of global studies, the major disciplinary and interdisciplinary perspecties the field draws on, and major global issues. Students will examine global themes and regions through the lenses of political science, economics, history, anthropology and other fields. Examples of issues to be studied include the Arab-Israeli conflict, global climate change policy, international development aid, and other complex mattera that require an interdisciplinary approach.

My Description: This course focuses on the anthropology of the world and some of the different cultures around Earth.  We learn about what defines a good “history” and the many different aspects of different historical events around the world.  We focus on the democratic uprisings in the Middle East known as the Arab Spring and how this has affected the democratic presence in our world society.  We end the course by discussing climate change in the world and the steps countries are taking to combat it, along with the effects it has on countries.
