Individualized Error

For the most part, I am happy with my writing ability, but there is always room for improvement.  For everyone.  Specifically, throughout my significant writing project and through revision, I noticed some tendencies I have in my writing that I had to alter.  One of my biggest habits in writing is run-on sentences.  I always try to have my sentences have as much context as possible, and write with the mindset that every single sentence in my paper must contribute to the overall theme of the paper.  This thought process often leaves me with high levels of sentences containing quality information, but in turn, also leaves me with long sentences that lose their place in my paper through revision.

Throughout the semester, my style of writing has remained constant meaning that I have dealt with the same issues during revision in all three of our writing projects.  However, I never found these issues to be detrimental, as they mainly required minor tweaks and taking some sentences out that didn’t belong anymore.  I found that I didn’t have to change my grammar often, and my punctuation remained correct throughout my projects this semester.  Moving forward, it is important for myself to be able to recognize correct situations to have long, dense sentences full of information and when to have smaller sentences that still are able to convey useful information to the reader.   As I recognize this has been my main constant problem in my writing the past few months, I must be more mindful of this in my future writing projects.
